Brett's Birthday

Because of the fact that Shane's birthday is now 3 days away and I have yet to put anything on here for Jace or Brett I decided that I would do so....finally.I can't believe that Brett is now 16 months old. Man time really does fly by.

Brett actually started walking when we were in Chicago for Thanksgiving. We were in the library and he just decided it was time. Tonya caught a couple of pictures of it but I haven't gotten it from her yet. He is such a great little guy and I just love to snuggle with him and I can't give him enough kisses.

For birthdays I generally make the kids (and Trav) their favorite meals. Generally Brett will gobble up any sort of breakfast item you put before him so that is what I made for him. Oatmeal for breakfast, can't remember lunch, and pancakes for dinner. We decided to have his party over the weekend with friends and family. He got alot of really great toys and clothes, but being the third child (and boy) it is hard to buy for him. Mostly because of the fact that our house is already bursting with hotwheels, guns, and balls. We wanted to get him something that was uniquely his own. So when we were in Chicago we found a turtle night light and projects stars all around the room and on the ceiling. It is really cool and Trav and I have even tried it out :). We had a circus theme for the cupcakes and I had a TON of fun making these. They didn't turn out exactly how I wanted them, but they were still cute.

Last year I posted 7things that I loved about Shane and Trav....so here is Brett.

1. His gappy wonderful smile. A couple of months ago he fell down the stairs and chipped one of his front teeth. I killed me because I missed his two perfect chicklets in front, but it really doesn't matter though because when he smiles his whole face lights up and you can't help but smile back.
2. How much he loves his blankets. He LOVES his blankets. We had a couple of blankets that my mom made for Jace but never used because Jace became so attached to another one. It was perfect though because she made two of them. Only now we have to put one under him and one over him for him to sleep.
3. How content he is. I have people that often comment that they never hear him cry. Believe me he cries, but for the most part he is so laid back. What a blessing to have around after his two crazy older brothers.
4. Those big brown eyes. He looks at you and you just melt. He has so much expression in his eyes.
5. His independence. He started crawling and walking sooner than my other boys, and I chalk that up to the fact that he wants to do things for himself. This also makes him a bit of a trouble maker. He likes to get into the closet and empty out everything, or come in the kitchen and empty out all the cupboards.
6. His personality. Travis and I already have commented on how we think that he is going to be our clown. Whenever he does something that makes us laughs he will do it over and over again.
7. His patience. He has to have patience to be loaded time and again in and out of the car all day long while I do all the stuff we do. He rarely cries in the car and is the best traveler. Over Thanksgiving traveling to and from Chicago, he was incredible. We went through a major snow storm through Iowa and it took us FOREVER but we hardly heard a peep from him.

What a joy he is. After scare and the rush to deliver him, he has been nothing but a joy in our lives. I don't know what we would do without him.
