Yesterday I decided that I wanted to have one of those memorable moments with my eldest. We went out to the garage, took off his training wheels and I proceeded out to the sidewalk where I was determined to make a memory. We put on his helmet, knee pads, and elbow guards and I braced myself for an hour or so of heavy Bike Riding 101.
As I went to put my hand on the back of the seat (a true Kodak moment), Shane turned around and announced, "Mom, get your hand off my bike. I will do it myself." He did just that. After an hour of "learning to balance" in the garage, he was off on his own. He is still a little tipsy but he did it "all by himself".

Way to go, Shane! And I love your description of him being "tipsy." What did you give him for lunch?
WOW, how old is Shane now? Carli (my 6 yr old niece) is just starting to ride her bike w/o training wheels.
"Mom, get your hand off my bike. I will do it myself." That's so Shane! I'm too scared to let Riley have a go without training wheels yet. :)
Way to go Shane! And Allie... always determined with a plan in hand!
