We received a gingerbread house kit as a gift from my SIL's grandmother and decided that it would be really fun to try our hand in it. Well I thought that the kids would fight if they had to share the decorating of just one so I took it upon myself to make another one from scratch. I know now why you just buy the kit. It is way easier, faster and you don't have kids climbing everywhere. It made my house smell so good though. Next year I may try it again because I actually have a pattern and am not just trying to free hand cut the house. Although these were WAY better than our sorry attempts with graham crackers last year. (It was so pitiful)
Jace's favorite part of course was the candy. I think more candy made it in his mouth than actually onto the house although you can't tell because the thing is packed with candy. Brett somehow got a hold of some of the gingerbread ( I think one of the chimneys) and sat happily under the table munching away. Shane was very meticulous and having dad as a partner made for a very well constructed house. I love doing this with the boys and I know that they look forward to doing decorating them every year.
